About us
The journey of soap making often begins as a creative outlet, a hobby that transforms into a passion. The onset of the pandemic provided a unique opportunity to explore this craft. With more time at home, I found solace in the process of creating handcrafted soaps, which not only served as a therapeutic activity but also allowed for the exploration of various ingredients and designs.
Soap making is a fascinating blend of art and science. The process involves the saponification reaction, where fats or oils react with an alkali, typically sodium hydroxide, to produce soap. This chemical reaction is vital, as it determines the quality and characteristics of the final product. Understanding the chemistry behind soap making is essential for achieving desired results, such as lather quality, moisturizing properties, and scent retention.
Designing soaps adds another layer of complexity and creativity to the process. Techniques such as layering, swirling, and embedding allow for unique visual aesthetics. The use of natural colorants, such as spirulina or turmeric, can enhance the visual appeal while maintaining the integrity of the ingredients.
While refining my craft, I became increasingly aware of the importance of small-batch production. This method ensures greater control over the quality and consistency of each bar. Small batches allow for meticulous attention to detail, from ingredient selection to the final curing process.
